Monday Mentions: 1st December

The finest knitted jumpers of snowflakes, snowmen, reindeer and trees are on in the office this morning. A quickly found Xmas playlist from YouTube is currently blaring from the speakers and we’re all in a very festive mood this morning. It’s CYBER MONDAY; the day where crowds fight it out in free wi-fi spots to be the first to get fifty quid off a TV online. While everyone is trying to bag “bargains” on Amazon, here’s what has been going on in the SEO world over the weekend:

Mozilla aren’t resting on their laurels. After Yahoo became their new de-facto default search engine last week, they’re now incorporating one-click searching in to the browser.

Ask (remember Ask?) revealed the top searches on their engine. Surprisingly “find me Google” wasn’t at the top of the list.

Skyscanner boosting their mobile friendliness just before Christmas. We’re expecting to see a sharp rise in cheap flights booked over Xmas week when everyone is sitting bored at home.

The European Parliament is thinking of taking a sledgehammer to Google and breaking it in to pieces if it doesn’t play ball. We’re just going to stand back with some popcorn and see how this plays out.

And finally, the next BDX event takes place this wednesday right here at Boyd Digital HQ. It’s all about startups and there’s gonna be free beer and plenty of good marketing talk. Grab your free tickets now:
