Monday Mentions : 19th January

Happy Monday morning everybody. Hope you all had a good weekend and didn’t have to spend the first half hour of your morning commute in the driveway scraping ice off the wind shield. It’s colder than cold outside today and with a big freeze set to continue all week, it’s getting so cold that our poor fingers are having a hard time thumbing through our phones to provide a welcome distraction to the start of the day. You don’t have to suffer the same fate though. We’ve compiled the most important news from the last days in the digital marketing world and threw it here just like a freshly boiled kettle over a window (which you should never do by the way).

Let’s see what is of note this morning.

You all know the horrible Lets Get Social song (if you don’t, watch this) and now Google is letting sites pop their social profiles in the SERP. We’re going to bet Google+ will be the hardest to get set up properly.

Checking and rechecking markups can be a pain in the ass. A new structured data testing tool is trying to make sense of what is on your sites. We suggest giving it a go if you want to get what was just mentioned above correct.

Here’s a resolution you probably should have made on January 1st but would never have thought of: sort your Facebook out.

At last weeks’ BDX we talked about the importance of getting your info for local listings right if you’re a small business. With this update, it only reinforces the point we made.

And if you’re looking for more key info like these tweets, don’t forget that you can get tickets now for our next BDX event on 28th January on Eventbrite right now.
