With Radio 1’s Big Weekend taking place across town at Glasgow Green this weekend, a discussion started in the office about just what the best festival performances of all time were. Now we have a widely varying taste when it comes to the type of music we all like, so instead of spending the day arguing over which Glastonbury head-liners were the best, or which of us has been to the best festival possible, a quick solution was proposed: everyone find their favourite festival performance ever and share it.
And while the results are a mixed bag (in the best possible way of course) you can see what we all found to be our favourite festival performances. Think of it as the Boyd Digital Festival Playlist, the best festival line-up in the world, without the need to stand in a muddy field and pay an extortionate amount for a beer.
Colin’s Choice: Blur- Tender, T in the Park 2009
Rosie’s Choice: Faithless – Insomnia, Loch Lomond 2007 (we think)
Stuart’s Choice: At The Drive In, Big Day Out 2001
Gregor’s Choice: The Band – The Weight, Woodstock 1969
Jonathon’s Choice: Queen – Radio Ga Ga, Live Aid 1985
Alastair’s Choice: Faith No More – Reunited, From Out Of Nowhere – Live @ Sziget ’09
Gary-Eoghan’s Choice: The National, Bloodbuzz Ohio, Pukkelpop 2009
Of course this could all change over the course of the weekend for those of us going to the Big Weekend once One Direction hit the stage. Until that happens, we’ll stick with these choice cuts.
