The Client

Bowmore, one of 8 distilleries located on the world-famous whisky distilling Isle of Islay and is widely accepted as being one of the finest single malt Scotch whiskies in the world.

The Island is situated on the west coast of Scotland and is popular with whisky makers due to its milder climate and rich peaty soil, both influential elements that make Bowmore a unique and finely balanced Scotch whisky.

The Strategy

Bowmore Morrison Distillers wanted to increase search visibility in international markets.

They also wanted to make sure that the brand website ranked for individual product terms instead of being outranked by supermarkets and re-sellers.

Firstly technical and content SEO audits were carried out.  This ensured that all brand websites were being fully indexed and all onsite signals were in-line with the campaign objectives.

Secondly, a well structured, varied and engaging content plan was implemented and formed the basis of an international link attraction campaign.

The Results

Traffic from natural search doubled after four months of the campaign and brand sites began to outrank supermarkets, whisky blogs and re-sellers for key product terms. International rankings and traffic increased for core market terms.
